      Vegan Supper Club Series: Robbie Burns Day Supper

      Heritage Month, Part 2: {Vegan} Robbie Burns Day
      Do you want to celebrate your strong Scottish heritage but the sound of sheep intestines and other offals sound... well awful?! No worries we've got just the thing... our Vegan Robbie Burns day dinner.

      If Tiger Beat existed in the 18th century, Scotland’s national treasure & poet Robbie Burns would have been cover boy material! This UK heartthrob even has his own holiday, so to celebrate his legacy we’re busting out the kilt and wearing some plaid for this month’s Vegan Scottish menu.

      ----------------------

      While we have moved towards making all our supper club menus also available in gluten free, there are times where the menu is simply not conducive to this option as the menu is too labour intensive and will re-quire an entire re-work not worthy of the theme. Unfortunately this menu is one that will NOT available in gluten-free.

      -------------------------

      Menu

      Introduction Course: Hogmanay Scottish Breakfast; Black Pudding, Tattie Scones, Roasted Tomatoes, Baked Beans, Hashbrown, Tofu Scramble

      Soup Course: Baked Broccoli Rumbledethump Gratin, with Garlic Confit Cream Sauce, Onions and 30 day Walnut "Highland" Blue Cheese

      Entrée Course: "Hairst Bree" Hearty Toasted Barley Soup with Braised Leeks, Carrots, and White Turnip in Scotch Broth

      Main Course: "Our Beloved Haggis" with Neeps and Tatties Spiced Oat and Mushroom Haggis with Creamed Rutabaga and Potatoes, Smothered in with Whiskey "Clapshot" Sauce

      Dessert: Scratch-made Deep Fried Mars Bar, layered with Caramel, Nougat and Chocolate served with Vanilla Ice Cream

      -------------------------

      Muskoka Maple Coffee, Assorted Sloane Teas, along with OntariEau Sparkling and Flat Water are included.

      The event begins at 7pm and dinner will start at 7:20pm or when most of the guests have arrived.

      No alcohol will be available for purchase or served onsite; if you bring your own, please don't drink and drive.

      {About Vegan Supper Clubs}

      We host a monthly themed Vegan Supper Club in our Tasting Room located at 245 Jane Street.

      What's a Supper Club you ask? Think of it as an informal dinner party meant to encourage guests to mingle, share and celebrate food. Events are 19+, complimentary sparkling and flat water will be provided. Here's a sneak peak of what to expect or check out our Supper Club Gallery.

      Are they always Vegan? Yes. We want people to feel included in the discussion around food, culture and the arts and feel making these events vegan will allow more guests to participate. We make Gluten-Free options when it is apropriate.

      {About Urban Acorn LTD.}

      Just like an idea, acorns begin small with the hopes of becoming something big, strong and meaningful. This was the initial push behind Urban Acorn LTD. a Flexiatarian Catering company founded by husband & wife team Marie and Chef Daniel Holloway.

      Inspired by art, music, and using food as a dialogue for social change, Urban Acorn wants to encourage people to broaden their understanding of food and each other with the hopes of building stronger communities.

      Their mostly plant-based 'Flexitarian' approach to cuisine, allows them to seamlessly create menus to both omnivores and vegans. Their philosophy is simple, they believe food should unite, not divide people.
