October is Dysautonomia Awareness Month, a global campaign launched in 2012 by Dysautonomia International, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that advocates for over 70 million people worldwide living with autonomic nervous system disorders. The 5th Annual Lighting of the CN Tower in Toronto will take place on Monday, October 21st at 7:00pm. The CN Tower will shine turquoise to celebrate Dysautonomia Awareness Month. Local families will gather to celebrate.

Dysautonomia is an umbrella term used to describe several medical conditions that cause a malfunction of the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nerves control the "automatic" functions of the body that we do not consciously think about, such as heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, temperature control, and more. People living with various forms of dysautonomia have trouble regulating these systems, which can result in light-headedness, fainting, unstable blood pressure, abnormal heart rates, malnutrition, and in severe cases, death. Many patients take years to get diagnosed due to a lack of awareness by the public and within the medical profession.

We are planning to meet up at a volunteers home at 6:00pm to share a bite to eat and socialize. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Around 7:00pm we will venture out (a short 3 minute walk, for those with motility issues a drive to the top of the street) to experience the beauty of the Tower being lit turquoise in recognition of Dysautonomia Awareness Month.

You must RSVP through email to to receive the home address for the meet up.
