Gandhi - Dare to Be the Change

"As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world but in being able to remake ourselves" ~ Mahatma Gandhi

In a time when the world was shaken by two world wars, atomic bombs and the Holocaust, one man managed to lead more than 450 million people in what is known as the greatest pacifist revolution in history. Through non-violent means, Gandhi proposed an ethical model in which the ends do not justify the means; teachings that would later inspire millions around the world including leaders such as Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, New Acropolis Toronto (along with several New Acropolis centres across the world) would like to honour the memory and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.

How did Mohandas Gandhi, an ordinary young man who was shy and battered by failures, become Mahatma Gandhi: one of the greatest spiritual idealists and leaders that the world has ever seen?

What was the source of his knowledge and how did he use this knowledge to transform himself into a warrior of peace? How was he able to integrate the ideals of truth, love and service into his everyday life?

Join us for a lecture to discover Gandhi's inner transformation and how we can all awaken the spiritual idealist within. Let's begin the journey of the peaceful, real and sustainable change that we want to see in the world!

      Please note:
      - Out of respect for those in attendance, doors will close at 1:00 pm
      - The event is being held on the third floor in the Viola Desmond room

      Speaker Bio:
Parth Doshi was born in Mumbai, India. Even though Parth was raised in a Jain community, his outlook on life was more spiritual and philosophical than religious. From a young age, he was on a quest to understand how to live life with more depth and meaning. This never left his side no matter what he did or where he was: his early years in Mumbai, frequent travels in his teen years to South east Asia for squash training and competitions, getting his Bachelor's degree while competing in varsity squash at Williams College in Maryland, USA and working in the tech sector in Boston.

In 2007 he met New Acropolis in Boston and immediately discovered his passion for applied Philosophy as a path to bring profound and sustainable change. This led to him to re-discover the life of Gandhi but from the lens of Gandhi's inner transformation, so essential and relevant for all of us today.

Professionally, Parth is an IT consultant but what lights up his life is volunteering at New Acropolis. He is an instructor and also the Director of New Acropolis in Toronto
