      CEMC Pascal, Cayley, Fermat (Grades 9-11) at Richmond Hill Central Campus 2019-2020

      CEMC - Pascal, Cayley and Fermat Contests by University of Waterloo Grades 9-11 - $10   The Pascal, Cayley and Fermat Contests are an opportunity for students to have fun and to develop their mathematical problem solving ability. Early questions require only concepts found in the curriculum common to all provinces. The last few questions are designed to test ingenuity and insight. Rather than testing content, most of the contest problems test logical thinking and mathematical problem solving. Students in Grade 9 or below are eligible to write the Pascal Contest, students in Grade 10 or below are eligible to write the Cayley Contest, and students in Grade 11 or below are eligible to write the Fermat Contest. It is a 60-minute contest consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions. The contest is scheduled in the morning, so the contestants will require to miss part of the school day. Most calculators are permitted in the contest.     FAQs My child's day school also offer this contest, who should I register with?  You have to register with your school.    I don't yet know whether my child's day school offers this contest or not. Can I register now and ask for a refund later if his/her day school does offer? Unfortunately, the registration fee is non-refundable. However, your child may only write the contest ONCE.    Can I sign my child up for contests that are above their current grade school grade level? Yes. However, you cannot sign up for lower grade contests.   Are calculators permitted? Most calculators are permitted with restrictions ( Please be informed that starting from this year, calculators that have a computer algebra system (CAS) or dynamic geometry software will no longer be permitted.    Where can I get more information about this contest?   How should my child prepare for this contest?
