      All current GHEI registrants, graduates and faculty are invited to attend a lecture and discussion onViolence prevention and public health responsibility with Dr. Peter Donnelly, President and CEO of Public Health OntarioTuesday, January 15, 2019 at 6PM – 7:30PM6th Floor Boardroom, 500 University AvenueViolence is a source of considerable mortality and morbidity around the world. Dr. Peter Donnelly explores violence as a major public health issue and discusses projects he has been involved with globally. His presentation describes the challenges and complexity of trying to evaluate interventions in this area of study while exploring the complicated interface between science, policy and politics.Dr. Peter Donnelly is President and CEO of Public Health Ontario, an arm’s length government agency dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of all Ontarians and reducing health inequities. Dr. Donnelly has held a series of academic and leadership positions in Wales, Scotland, and now Canada, and is an active researcher in violence reduction. He works with the World Health Organization and Milbank Memorial Fund. He is co-editor of the recently published Oxford textbook of Violence Prevention and holds professorships at the University of Toronto, Queen’s University and St Andrews University. Introduction and moderator is Dr. Jasmine Pawa.
