Resourcing Social Justice in a Time of Austerity: A Groundswell Fundraiser

You're invited to a Fundraiser in support of the Groundswell Fund, a Toronto-based project that invests in social movement groups across the country. The event will feature a panel discussion on Resourcing Social Justice in a Time of Austerity. Panelists will include: Anna Willats, Board Member of the Groundswell Fund, and longtime social justice activist and organizer. Anna is involved with RadTO, a coalition seeking progressive political change in the City of Toronto, and has been involved in women's rights, migrant justice, and labour organizing.  Yogi Acharya, longtime writer and organizer with the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty, a grassroots anti-poverty advocacy group, and an organizer with the the Raise the Rates campaign, an initiative fighting to raise social assistance rates in Ontario. Bronwyn Oatley, a member of the Toronto Chapter of Resource Movement, an initiative that organizes young people with access to wealth and class privilege toward the equitable distribution of wealth, land and power.  During the event, we'll learn about the Groundswell Fund, and their approach to resourcing social justice movements. We'll also hear inspiring stories of when social justice movements have struggled -- and won! In a challenging political climate, this will be an evening that inspires! The event will feature snacks provided by Glad Day, the world's oldest LGBTQ+ bookshop. There will be a cash bar. This event is hosted by friends of Groundswell who are members of Resource Movement. We look forward to having you join us! Don't hesitate to pass this invitation along to friends who you think would be keen to join us! If you have any accessibility needs, please contact Bronwyn at bronwynoatley@gmail.com.
